Thursday, April 4th, 7- 8:15pm

Many of us love food, how tasty it is, the process of preparing it, or the thrill of discovering a new restaurant. But, is there more to it?  How might our Jewish tradition help us understand the potential spiritual aspects of receiving, preparing and eating food? Or, in other words, what does it mean to not just love Jewish foods, but to love foods Jewishly?

About our presenter

Rabbi Aviva Richman, a dean at Hadar, an egalitarian institute of Jewish learning, will take us on a playful and closer look at the Jewish lens on all things food. We will explore classical Jewish sources to see how food laws intersect richly with personal experiences on a psychological, social and ethical plane.  Taking a deep dive into sources from the Talmud and beyond, we will also consider more expansive meanings behind not eating lobster and pork, or separating milk and meat, and what insight we can glean as we navigate our own complex food choices.
